The Silent Patient by author Alex Michaelides
If you love the physiological thrillers that keep your mind spinning and your emotions heaving, this is a great book for you. The victim is a beautiful young woman who refuses to speak after a tragic event with her husband. The criminal physiotherapist is working with her and he is convinced he can help her talk again. Not unlike a suspense thriller by Agatha Christie, The Silent Patient follows the life of a famous painter whose childhood is tragically sad due to an accident which then launches the victims’ emotional imbalance into adulthood. Alex Michaelides creates a surprisingly unique villain whose physiological state is more dire than the victim. The last several chapters are the best of the book as the author brings forth the truth and reveals the demented killer and leaves us hanging as to the fate of both the victim and the criminal.
A good book with a very suspenseful and surprising ending.
