The community is invited to participate in a quilt show at St. Helena's Church at the World Museum of Mining for August 18, 2018 during Miner's Market. The theme of the 2018 quilt show is 'Quilts from the 30's, 40's and 50's.' These quilts could be any size, made by any person, be original from the era, or could be new quilts using vintage/replica fabrics with blocks from those eras. The show will also include any 'quilt parts' or blocks of those eras that have not yet been made into a quilt, known to some as UFO's (Unfinished Objects). UFO's have their own stories to tell and they are important to the show! The quilt show is a collaborative effort with the Chateau Quilt Guild and the World Museum of Mining. Membership in either organization is not required to enter a quilt to display. The show is not judged, it is a public exhibit to share the beauty of quilts. The entry cost of $5/quilt (or set of blocks) will be collected by the museum and will be directed to textile preservation in the museum. The museum will be collecting the quilts up to August 17. They will be on display on August 18, and available for collection after 4:00 pm on August 18, or any day after during standard museum hours. Bring your quilts, or parts of quilts, and have them displayed during this special show!
